The weather in Southern California can still be sunny and warm (mid-70s) in the winter months but the water is cold. Think of it more as an opportunity to run in the sand and fly a kite than to go swimming and sun tanning. If hitting the beach is part of your vacation plans then May through October is your best bet.

For skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing the months of December, January, and February are the best.

There are also the regional factors to consider. San Diego can be doused in morning coastal fog for much of June making the beaches a sometimes chilly destination, but if you’re not an early riser, it generally burns off around noon.

Yes, we can take care of all your transportation needs.
We suggest booking as early as possible to ensure your dates are locked in; generally a deposit will guarantee your reservation. A reasonable lead time is generally adequate for making your reservations unless your visit dates overlap a major event taking place. Check with our agents to determine when to book for the best rates.

Southern California

How best to see the region?

We always recommend clients visiting a destination for the first time take advantage of our agents knowledge base to focus their visit and ensure it aligns with their interests and passions; not everyone is a Disney fan, and not everyone enjoys walking the beach…but many do.  If you are driving to Southern California or renting a car you will find that California is in love with the automobile and the highways, despite the hype, are actually very good–so getting around is easy and inexpensive.  We recommend that you base yourself in San Diego County which is somewhat less expensive than LA and has plenty of activities for all budgets, couples, singles and families.  Day trips to LA and Hollywood can be accomplished by driving or hopping on the train and zipping up the coast.

We also like recommending cruises that work the California Coast, these cruises provide plenty of time in key ports to explore, you don’t have to pack and unpack, and they are often less expensive then a superior hotel in the heart of LA.
